Five Things

How are you? Did you have a good weekend? Once again I've not blogged for ages and am beginning to wonder if I should carry on. Blogging seems to take up so much time and I'm feeling guilty that when I'm blogging I'm not actually acheving anything - cakes don't get baked, floors don't get cleaned, the garden becomes messier. Work is busy, with news of redundancies due to spending cutbacks and more to come next year. We all know the people losing their jobs and feel so sad for them and their families. Next year might mean interviews to keep our jobs - and I'm not hopeful as someone who is very shy and was always told not to show off when I was little, interviews are a difficult thing. Some of us get a little cross when jobs are given to people we know are lazy or who just don't bother turning up for work when it suits. Oh dear! I bet you've all switched off after all that moaning - my blog is supposed to be like Eeyore's gloomy place - except it is my happy place. I fully intended today just to post up an award and to pass it on to 5 lovley ladies and instead I'm feeling sorry for myself. Time to cheer up I think!

Just before Christmas, Jo at JoJo Designs gave me this award. The condition of accepting the award is to list 5 things I like doing and then pass the award on to 5 other people. So here goes.

1. Shopping
Like most women, I adore shopping. Not that horrible boring weekly walk around Sainsbury's or that dash into town to queue at the bank or to pick up half the stock from the floor at Primark. No. certainly not. I mean this sort of shopping

beautiful things, beautifully presented and inspirational ideas that lift your spirit and put that gorgeousness into your home or garden. I also like this sort of shopping

Finding loveliness to bring home and treasure. Finding that little thing someone no longer wants that feels me with such excitement.

2.Holidaying in Cornwall.
My beloved Cornwall.
Sometimes the weather lets us down

but the people and the spectacular scenery are constantly wonderful.

3.Cross Stitch
Something else I've loved doing - yet this last 12 months I lost the mojo.

4. Baking

I love baking. Cakes never look particularly pretty but they never stay around long enough to be admired.

5. Getting Out and About.
Whether it be with friends or family, I love to get out and about. I love walking along the local canal

visiting churches

National Trust houses and gardens

and just taking time to enjoy the countryside.

I'm going to pass this award onto the ladies at the following blogs.

A Mermaid's Purse

Andi's English Attic
Kids and Capers
Tapestries of Nature
The Vintage Bothy.

Hi there, Stop blogging? are you serious??
I have blogged today instead of packing my stock away, the house looks like a bombsite, who cares? As I blog I keep checking for new posts and was happy to see one from you, I love your pictures and thoughts (could we be seperated at birth)?
When I got back to the bottom, I was totally shocked, wow!
Thank you very much for the award, I can't believe it! (This is not a bafta acceptance), it is so nice to know that people enjoy my blog, i'm gobsmacked!

Thank you for the sweet award. It's going to be fun deciding my five. I love Cornwall too, and I really, really like those dishes.
If any of us ever need any incentive to keep on blogging, I would suggest they visit Daisy Cottage:
http://deardaisycottage.typepad.com/daisy_cottage/

and read the recent post entitled 'Tabatha' (but have the tissues ready). We can't know exactly who reads our blogs or what is going on their lives. Also, remember, everyone needs and deserves some 'me' time. Don't feel guilty about it. xx

Loved your post today, did you do all those cross stitches? They're amazing!

Do carry on blogging, just don't feel *obliged* to do it. When it becomes another chore it's time to take a step back. I'm following so many blogs (and all of them lovely!) that it's hard to keep up sometimes and it's as much that part as writing my own. I feel mean if I post but don't comment on others, if you see what I mean.

I've just found you, please don't stop blogging! It doesn't matter if there's a little gap between posts, sometimes blogging's the thing to do and sometimes (unfortunately!) the housework and other jobs really do need to get done!

Thanks for your visit to my blog. I think we all have moments when we think we will give up on blogging...I know I do! I start to feel guilty that I'm not commenting enough on other people's blogs.
Anyway, you cant stop now because I've just met you and I think your blog is gorgeous and you sound like you have a very similar lifestyle to me, ie., too much work and not enough time to blog!
Take care and have a lovely weekend.
Susie

For someone feeling down in the dumps You've produced a very pretty, interesting and heartwarming post.
I hope You don't give up blogging. I had to take a long break last year, I think that was a better solution to giving it up. If You need breaks we'll all understand and still be here when You return. It's easy to feel pessimistic at this time of year too, You'll probably feel a lot better in a month or two. You are such a sweet person ane we appreciate You more than You know.
Hope You feel better soon xxx

Sending warm Hugs and Love xxx

Lovely, all things I love doing too. My everlong dream has been to live in Cornwall. I also have all the same reasons not to blog, but I am trying hard to keep mine going, even at half measures. The fruit set is the prettiest I have seen in a long time, a real treasure. I worked for the same organisation for 25 years, before taking voluntary severence. I always thought I would never get through an interview as I suffer from anxiety, but when needs must you do, and end up with a job at the end of it, so try not to worry. x

stopping blogging is banned! It doesn't matter how often you blog, or look at other peoples blogs, just don't give up!
