All Sorts

Chaos here at the moment folks. Next week sees an incredibly busy week with the new bathroom being installed. I don't know whether the mood here is full of excitement or tension. The dining room is looking particularly glamorous with all of this stuff stored in here and the bathroom needs stripping out, cupboards need to be emptied and storage found elsewhere.

Added to that I 'm still finding plaster dust lurking in the most peculiar of places and there is still electrical work to be done. Josh also has an overnight stay in Wales next week with his school, a guitar exam and a three day trip with Scouts - nothing's ready and here I am again blogging instead of doing something useful!

Yesterday I received my first bunch of sweet peas from Father-in-law's garden.

I wish you could smell them, they are so gorgeous. There will soon be enough for him to leave a bucketful of bunches at the gate to sell to passers by and later in the summer the finest specimens will be kept for the all important competitions.

He also gave us our first English strawberries of the season. We are a bit choosy here in the Funkyhouse and will only buy English strawberries in season. They are so much better than the imported ones that are here at totally the wrong time. O.k. lecture over! I also love these delectable sweet william. They always make me think of my grandad, as he always grew them in his garden as well as dahlias later in the season.

I will be back in a couple of days to post the last of my holiday pics but I thought you all deserved a break from them! I'd better start thinking about doing some work of some kind instead of sitting here enjoying myself. I'm also thinking of places to visit next week as there is no way I'll be sticking around the house with no available loo. That means I'll probably be spending money I shouldn't but I can't really stay here can I?

ahhh yes thats the problem with home renevation. You dream of the day when your plans can go ahead and all to often it can turn into a nightmare of dust and delays. Thus somehow sucking the joy out of what should be a dream come true.

But it will be worth it once the dust and chaos has passed.

I am with you on the seasonal front. I am sure there are somethings we buy out of season but certainly things like peaches nectarines and strawberrys are better this time of year. And I love our british strawberries they are so juicy and sweet.

Wishing you a hopefully painless and stress free bathroom renevation.

I couldn't agree more with the strawberries - imported ones have absolutely no flavour, so why bother!! We've been picking them gradually from our garden too this week though I'm still waiting for the sweetpea to flower.

Lovely pictures and good luck with the bathroom work!!

I hope things are soon back to normal for you! Your Father-in-law is a very generous man giving you sweetpeas and strawberries. I bet he has a beautiful garden. Enjoy your days out loo hunting next week! x

Oh, how lovely sweet peas, sweet william and strawberries. My sweet peas are only halfway up their canes as yet. I have vivid memories of the upheaval of having our bathroom done it's wonderful when it is finished though - hope all goes well:)

Good luck on the bath! It will all be over soon.

Sweet Williams remind me of my dad, who grew them also. I seem to keep getting the hot pink ones when I plant them. I like the white ones with the "eye", but you just can't find single-color seed packs! I'll keep trying!

I hate all the mess when you are having jobs done around the house but it's all worth it in the end.
Sweet Williams always remind me of my Great Gran, I treated myself to a couple of bunches last week, sadly we don't have them in our garden.

Ooh, lucky you...a nice new bathroom. It's a shame about the chaos you have to enndure first though isn't it? There's not many worse rooms that you can have out of action!
It'll all be worth it in the end I'm sure.

Re strawberries, it does irritate me when you go round someones house in December and they serve up strawberries. I like to wait until they are in season, more a treat that way too! :-)
